2022 saw the return of a traditional NCAA Tournament with multiple venues providing more than enough madness.
At the start of the season, one of College Basketballs greatest coaches announced that it was his final year on the bench in probably the weirdest way imaginable (Coach K walks into his Retirement press conference dancing the cascada!! - YouTube) and Coach K's Retirement Tour was born. He led Duke through the regionals to the Final Four providing endless media coverage, camera shots of him and Mrs. K walking to the stadium and not so humble sideline interviews. Duke was joined by their arch nemesis North Carolina, a unlikely "8 seed" who after nearly blowing a lead of historic proportions upset defending champion Baylor in one of the best games of the Tournament. They were joined by blue bloods Kansas and Villanova, the former looking for their first title since 2009 and the latter looking for their 3rd title in six years.
But without a doubt the story of the tournament were the St Peter's Peacocks. Led by Shaheen Holloway the Peacocks hailing from Jersey City, NJ shocked the 2 seed Kentucky Wildcats busting many brackets and then followed by clipping Murray St and Purdue becoming the first 15 seed ever to reach the Elite Eight, making Doug Edert a household name and his jersey a frequent appearance at darties till the end of time.
Kansas easily took care of Villanova, while North Carolina closed Coach K's career in a instant classic. The final saw two of College Basketballs greatest programs show down in the Big Easy. While superstars Armando Bacot and Caleb Love came out hot leading the Tar Heels to a 15 point lead at the half, led by MVP Ochai Agbaji the Jayhawks stormed back to win 72-69 capping off the biggest comeback in National Championship history.
